Valentine's Day is around the corner (already!!).  Here's our 5 favourite options if you are looking for something special.

Earrings for Day to Night

I think a good jewellery gift is one that will get a lot of wear. I appreciate that there is a lot of fun to be had with fashion jewellery - however it's a lot more subjective (ask my poor other half!!) whereas a simple earring with a little flair to it will always be worn and enjoyed. So, I've listed a few classics, in ascending price order..

1 - Furl Earrings by Sarah Jordan £170

Simple silver curls around the earlobe. Pretty and clever. These are silver, but we can supply gold plated, or rose gold plated if that suits skin tone better (plated versions £10 extra).

2 - Diamond Stud Earrings £550 for 2.5mm stones or £800 for 3mm stones

Beautiful little diamond stud earrings, these sit really snugly against the earlobe. Also available as 4/6 claw versions, but I like the round rubover, just because it adds a bit more presence to the diamonds. A 0.06ct round brilliant diamond is 2.5mm (overall earring 4.1mm) and a 0.10ct round brilliant is 3mm which is the size of the studs pictured and makes a 4.8mm round stud). Pretty day and night. If you want larger but are willing to make some compromises, you can spend a bit less, these are the Bond Street stone level diamonds quoted here. We do bigger still (obviously! Just let us know)

3 - Platinum or Gold Climber Earrings, £2,475 set with 0.87ct of G internally flawless round diamonds.

(Or £1,680 for slightly smaller stones - 0.56cts)

If like me, you only have one piercing you want to use - these earrings are a brilliant way to make a statement on the earlobe. Can be worn up the ear (as pictured) or hang them down to create a drop. I wear mine for everything, I'm biased but they are what I wear most of the time as the back doesn't stick in so I often forget to take them off at bedtime!
The simple slide on the back of the earring holds it securely in place. I've worn mine to a water-park (forgot to remove them) and was very relieved to find both still on at the end of the session, and still in the right position! The slightly smaller pair, set with 0.56ct of round brilliant diamonds looks pretty similar on the earlobe, it has the same number of stones, just slightly smaller).

4 - Diamond Pendant in Platinum or Gold

From £800 with a 3mm diamond

Got an old diamond or round gemstone? You could have it set into a pendant for Valentine's day too! Just let us know and choose your setting.

We have numerous pendant options in platinum and gold.
A slider pendant is simple and lovely for every day wear. It's a great solution for old diamonds, provided they are bigger than 3mm. Remounting an old stone in a pendant like this will cost from £680 depending on stone size and chain length.

5 - One Special Diamond to Make a beautiful pendant or ring from

E i1 0.50ct GIA triple excellent. £1,300

This stone crossed my path a while back, and it's a brilliant example of why a diamond appraisal only tells part of a story. The inclusion is visible at about 10pm on the diamond face, but it is to the side, and doesn't obstruct the light in what is a beautiful stone with a fabulous cut, symmetry and polish. Buy this stone to present as part of a valentine's day gift to make a pretty pendant or ring. In a simple setting on a chain, this would produce a pendant costing about £1,900.

Just a fantastic stone, where because it is graded as 'included' it brings the price down significantly. The location of the inclusion means that appearance is unaffected. It's a really good buy.
