Frequently Asked

When Do You Charge A £300 Retainer?
When Do You Charge A £300 Retainer?

We ask our client for a retainer when we start working on design concepts and production work. The first discussion and subsequent correspondence is generally free of charge.

Are your diamonds Fair Trade?

All of our stones are sourced through the terms laid down by the Kimberly Process, a global mechanism for ensuring that stones have not entered the market through slavery or sold to support conflict.

Why do I have to pay for my jewellery in advance?
Why do I have to pay for my jewellery in advance?

This is fairly standard for bespoke jewellery and actually we don't ask for full payment up front which is more unusual. Our service is highly personalised and committing time and materials without security doesn't make sense, we will not commence production unless we have financial commitment from our clients.

When will my jewellery be delivered?
When will my jewellery be delivered?

This depends on the complexity of the design and availability of materials. A simple ring could be ready in two weeks.  For bespoke settings expect 5-6 weeks. On average from decision being made on ring required, it is about 3 weeks.

How Does Your Service Work?
How Does Your Service Work?

Once you have decided you would like to engage us, we ask for a retainer of £300 which is part of your overall ring cost. The reason for this is that we are working specifically for you on your project and providing our time. We have a lot of clients and it is worth thinking of us as consultants rather than salespeople.

We will take the information you have provided us with and provide you with some style directions and pointers. Some clients know exactly what they are looking for and we can advise on this. The majority of clients have a rough idea and are looking to get a visual on what that should look like!

Once we’ve got closer visually, we will meet up. There will be diamonds and details to consider, sometimes with made to order there is a model of the ring to see, with bespoke there are often sketches and CAD models or 3D wax printouts.

When you are happy, we ask for 50% of the final cost up front. The remainder (less £300) is payable when your ring is ready.

How Much Does Your Jewellery Cost?
How Much Does Your Jewellery Cost?

For engagement rings, the diamond selected will drive the main cost. As an illustrative purpose, choosing a 0.70ct Fsi1 GIA triple excellent stone cost one client £4,100 in a made to order setting with diamond shoulders, and this would have been £5,400 for a designer setting. A 0.59ct Dvs2 GIA triple excellent stone set in a plain platinum ring was £3,100. We only sell stones we have seen and love.

Can I afford to work with a specialist jewellery buyer for my budget?
Can I afford to work with a specialist jewellery buyer for my budget?

As you can see from our service levels, we offer a very accessible service. We run a different business model from the traditional jewellery industry, and clients stand to gain and save more than actually paying a high street retailer more for a lower quality piece.
